F A Q

If there is a question you want answered, that is not here, than please comment and I'll and it and the answer. The commision  F A Q is located   here

Where does your love of horses spring from? Has it always been there, or did something spark it?
Don't know, loved them since I was tiny, begged and begged to take riding classes. My parents finally gave in when I was 8. And that's the road I've been down.

Is making artwork going to be one of your main sources of income if it isn't already?
As much as I would like to, I doubt I ever will be able to make a full living simply on my art, the climate is rough and the competition very hard. It is however what i burn for, and I will always have a job simply to have enough money to do art. it is a very small source of income today (though currently my only). People want art, but they don't want to pay for it. *snickers*

If so, when will you start accepting commisions? (or do you already?)
Oh I take commissions I just get them very rarely! Maybe I should advertise myself better?

When did you start drawing/painting seriously?
Seriously? Hmm, well, when the time came for me to choose directions (after the basic years of school, 15, going on 16 years old), it was never any question. ART! I've always been serious about it, and have on my neck now six years of art study.

When was the first time you used Photoshop, and did you understand it right away?
Haha, I don't know! I do remember the first drawing program I used though, it was called Kid Pix, for Mac, and I hade great fun with it! But i think my first 'real' encounter with photoshop did not come until I was 16 and started the new school where half, or a third maybe, the education was about art. I have some very crummy old pictures, drawn with a mouse on my not so impressive old iMac. I got a tablet a few years ago, I think between 2002 and 2003.
And i was NOT very good at it, I knew nothing about the program, and the manual was like greek to me. Luckily my dad is a pro on the Adobe programs, so he helped me a bit in the beginning. I have some slight help from the manual, but mostly I've learned stuff on my own, and nowadays I'm really keen on keeping my out for art tuturials and walkthroughs by fellow artists, as it seems everybody has their own tricks to achieve things!

Where do you get your inspiration?
Um, that's a tough one actually. I don't know how to answer it... I mean, everything around me provides inspiration in different ways. It comes to me just because I live and watch the things around me. The books I read, the art i watch, the poetry, the way light falls one day, how the clouds look another day, my horse's eyes, and her gait, certain sounds, the touch of something. *shrug* it's always there, it's a state of mind, inspiration, and if my mind is closed, there will be nothing. If it's open, the world is just a big treasure chest to look through.

What's your average of comments, fav and notes per day (or week) ?
Look at my stats.

Which do you find easier, traditional or digital art? Which do you prefer and why?
Well that was a good question indeed.
I find digital art easier as all you have to do is sit at the compuer, you don't have to bring a lot of stuff out, it's just a screen and a tablet. But on the other hand, I actually do find digital art to be harder than oils and watercolors (which are my main traditional medias), I don't know why, it's just much easier to paint in real life for me. Maybe it is becuase you get an entirely different view of you artwork, the size is bigger, you have a better contact with the painting then you do on a screen. i'm the kind of person who will paint with my hands and pastell knives rather than brushes, though I'm trying to do more brush work.

As I am lazy person, I prefer digital right now, as it does not require me to get down and dirty. but I still love to work on an oil painting. It's just that i am sensitive to my environment, and if my studio is not in perfect conditions, I avoid going in there to do any work.
I am missing the traditional media a lot though, it has grown on me lately, so we'll see if there won't be any new traditional media up in the future.

Unicorns of the Vale

This is a fansite dedicated to The Firebringer Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce.
The site is currently placed at an MSN Group, where it is moderated by the Founder Rohar (better to e-mail him if you want to get in touch), his two co-regents DV-Skitz and bardicsidhe, and there helpful Assistant Managers; Yours truly, SwordchildPlaid JenWardell dt-maxwell cheekychizkit and Mira (who does not have a DA account to my knowledge).

On the site we try to promote the books, get them new readers and discuss various topics concerning Meredith Ann Pierce (to whom we refer as MAP) and The Firebringer Trilogy (The FT).

A large portion of the site consists of Roleplaying, set five years after the events of the final book. As a roleplaying member you get a Member Page after a waiting period, and also you get to request a Member Page Portraits for your Member Page. On the Member Page you display your rp characters, with an image and some text about it.

THREE THINGS TO READ
SCRAPS UNICORNS; Now, all those unicorns you see popping up in my scraps now and then, they are portraits of characters for rping members of the Vale. I simply post thme there for the owners to pick up, as the storage space you get on MSN is rather limited. The images are deleted as soon as I have word from the owenr, to try and prevent theft of designa nd art.

UNICORN ARTWORKS IN SCRAPS; As far as the outlines go ; I have a huuuge set I’ve built on for quite some time now, and they are pretty much ‘finished’ already, shaded in greyscale. I add color and markings (which is not as easy as it might sound all the time) and post them for pick up here on DA.
It is imperative that you do not STEAL USE or BORROW the designs or the outlines. Please do not copy them!!
And Yes, some of them are based on Breyer models and others.
