Okay so I'm trying to start to get more serious about the whole portfolio website thing again, lookign into domains for example. Right now I'm also going through a ton of artists personal websites and doing extremely harsh, short reviews of them for my own benefit and the webdesigner that will do the site for me.
You know what surprises me? How many ugly, clumpsy websites there are out there for artists! Liek wtf? You are an artist, don't you have estethic mind at all when it come sto webdesign/graphics? I guess beeing good at the one does not make you good at the other. -_-
I mean these sites can be very flashy with lot's of cool ideas regarding how they display their work. But it takes a long time too load, categories are often strangely constructed, there is too little or too much information, or even - too much art! Gosh, get an archive and stash your old stuff there!
So far I actually also came acroos a website that had me turn away in horror as a loud 'cool' tune started playing! GAAH! I hate websites that play usic! What's wrong with you people, left yoru wits at home? Your personal website should advertise you in a way that is easy and attractive for the viewer, not what YOU think is cool (well, not ONLY what you think is cool hehe).
What do you think an artists personal website should be like? Got nay good website examples, or just thoughts on the ide ain general?
Thank you again so much!
